Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can anyone join the Academy and is there a catchment area?

All 1,150 places at the Academy are free and available to the local community within an admissions policy which mirrors the admissions arrangements for community schools in Enfield. Students will be accepted irrespective of ability or faith. Places are offered according to the admissions criteria for the Academy, the main criteria being the nearest distance a child lives from the Academy measured by the safest walking route. Full details about admission to the Academy can be found under the Admissions section of the website.
  • What are Academies?

Academies are all-ability schools serving local communities and working in partnership with the DCSF, Local Authority, local businesses, other schools and other local stakeholders.

  • Are there other Oasis Academies?

As of September 2009 there will be 11 Oasis Academies; two in NE Lincolnshire (Immingham and Wintringham), two in Southampton (Lord’s Hill and Mayfield), two in Bristol (Brightstowe and Bristol), two in Croydon (Coulsdon and Shirley Park), one in Salford (MediaCityUK) and two in Enfield (Hadley and Enfield).  Further details can be found on the Our Academies page.

  • Where in Enfield is the Academy?

Oasis Academy Enfield is on the Innova Business Park, which is situated in the Enfield Lock ward. The address is Oasis Academy Enfield, Kinetic Crescent, Innova Park, off Mollison Avenue, Enfield EN3 7XU.
  • How are Academies funded?

The DFE meets the capital and running costs for an Academy in full, as a part of an overall strategy to raise standards beyond the improvements already made by the predecessor school.  Once up and running Academies receive equivalent funding to other secondary schools in the same area.
